Sip the Experience

Here, my friends, is your standard city-cafe. If you are in need of some fine tasting Counter Culture coffee and happen to be in the Lindbergh area then stop in, you'll find it's refreshing. If not then don't feel like you're missing out on anything extraordinary. Sip is a somewhat new establishment and is probably still just trying to find its groove.

Atmosphere- Sip has a nice open space with seating both inside and outside on the patio. The feel is modern and fresh with high ceilings and a cool color scheme. The fault with the atmosphere for Sip is the low quality. The place is filled with either straight Ikea or imitation Ikea furniture, dishes, art, etc and it's too obvious. I need more character and I hope this will come with time.

Coffee- The coffee here tastes great (thank-you Counter Culutre) and they offer a decent selection of espresso drinks and teas.

Service- It took me five minutes to order and pay for my French-pressed coffee. Granted, the person behind the register was in training but not many people are patient enough to wait that long for such a simple transaction. Another detractor was the wife-beater t-shirt the guy behind the counter was wearing-eww. No one was particularly friendly and by the time we left the cafe was getting kinda messy.

Location- We liked the location. There really aren't many local coffee shops in that area so Sip is this little hiding spot in the big Buckhead. Having Sip as part of an apartment building in the Lindbergh area gives it this neighborly feel. The area is very walkable and accessible.

Legitimacy- Known coffee, OK menu selection, and good food. But the quaility of the actual stuff (non edible) inside Sip takes its legitimacy down.

I have to add that Sip gets the rating we gave it despite the many negatives I noted about the service and atmosphere because the coffee is good and this is a coffee-shop blog. You'll notice that Cafe Nineteen has the same rating-that's because it's atmosphere rocks while it's coffee is rather bland.

Overall Rating - 3.5 Stars
